The Story of Kundan

A centuries-old craft of setting stones in gold, and why we still love it today.

Kundan is one of India's oldest jewellery-making traditions, born in the royal courts of Rajasthan and Gujarat. The word itself refers to highly refined gold, which artisans use to set stones without prongs.

Each stone is cradled in layers of gold foil and pressed into place by hand — a slow, patient process that gives Kundan its soft, luminous glow.

At Vyshnavi, we bring this heritage into pieces that are lighter and easier to wear, while keeping the hand-setting and detailing that makes Kundan so special.

When you wear Kundan, you carry a little of that history with you — and that, we believe, is what makes jewellery more than just jewellery.
